For Christmas, I practically begged for a Smythson diary. I was not subtle. At. All. Unsurprisingly, the Englishman delivered with a stunning cobalt Panama diary (fancier than the one I asked for!).
I still believe in the power of pen-to-paper, and I really think it helps me remember what is going on in life. I could never get on board with my iPhone’s calendar or electronic datebooks – for me, it had to be written down. Last year, I used a Kate Spade planner with much success. This year, I wanted something more compact and easier to toss in my bag on-the-go, hence the slimmer Smythson. The fact that it is uber posh and matches my engagement ring is a
totally unplanned bonus.
I’ve already started jotting reminders for myself, such as Duke’s veterinary appointments, library due dates, and upcoming nights out with the Englishman. The Smythson also has holidays for both the UK and USA, which means I can keep up with Mothering Sunday and Mother’s Day. I really am obsessed with this diary…
Along with plans for 2016, I have been reflecting on resolutions. Last year, I made three simple resolutions:
- Be better to my friends.
- Be better to my body.
- Be better to my Englishman
They were all about improving and being better, and I wrote them on a pretty notecard and kept them in my diary, referencing the goals every few weeks. Last week, I could reflect back and honestly say that I accomplished all of my resolutions. I was better, and I could see how much I had improved over the past year.
I decided to have the same, simple goals for improvements in 2016. I wrote my resolutions on a little notecard and it lives in my diary, next to a little love note from B. Without further ado:
