I am embarrassed to admit how many night’s out I spend wishing I were back home by the fire with a cup of tea.
It doesn’t even have to be my home. The farm, the Englishman’s parent’s house in England, my best friend’s kitchen – places that feel like home. Maybe they are someone’s home. They evoke that comfortable feeling of coziness, which you simply can’t get from a night on the town.
We spend so much of our lives at home – maybe our home, maybe someone else’s home, but most of life is spent within four walls where a family makes memories. So let’s spend time at home – keeping it homey, happy, and lovely. Curled up with a good book. Talking about family. Learning about life.
I think there is a cultural movement murmuring in the shadows of an Instagram post – we want to invite friends over for dinner parties. We want to join a book club, and read books with friends over glasses of wine. We want to bake cake from scratch, and by that, I don’t mean the complicated box mixes – no “just-add-water” here! We want a little bit of domesticity back into the world.
With all those thoughts in mind, I’d like to spend Wednesdays “at home.” On AWL, let’s talk about families, books, wedding plans, home ideas, and life.
