I don’t remember when I first became aware of Molton Brown, but I do remember when I first fell in love with the brand. On my first trip to London in 2013, our hotel bathroom was stocked with Molton Brown toiletries. The body wash was the brand’s timeless Gingerlily scent, and the soft, warm fragrance was instantly my favorite. Whenever I smell it, I am transported to that historic hotel overlooking a small garden square in Mayfair.
On another trip to England, I wandered down a cobblestone street in Cambridge with Englishman’s mum on a chilly December afternoon. We stumbled upon the Molton Brown boutique and, to catch some warmth, went inside. The store was lit up with candles and cheerful folks, and we fell in love with their Oudh Accord and Gold scent – featuring real gold leaf flakes. It quickly became a Christmas gift from his mum to me.
All of these wonderful memories are attached to a Molton Brown scent, from lotions to body washes and candles. I love when a brand can be more than just a product, but a memory and a story.
In a few weeks, I’ll be back in Good Old England, and I already plan to stock up on some new scents and treats to bring back home. Do you have a brand you love, that makes you tell silly stories like these? I would love to hear them!
In other news this week…
What I’m Using… Karin Herzog Vita-A-Kombi 1
I may be the only person on the planet whose skin is drier in the summer than the winter, but all this air conditioner and dehydration from the sun has my skin parched. At night, I am marinating in Karin Herzog’s Vita-A-Kombi 1 and it is a true savior! I love the product as a spot treatment, moisturizer and mask depending on how I use it!
What I’m Wearing… H&M cotton cardigans
I may be the only person on the planet who wears cardigans in summer (surely there is some alien out there similar to myself in these matters?!) but I love to throw a cardigan over a sleeveless blouse or t-shirt. Air conditioning can be so chilly, especially in restaurants at night, so these lightweight cotton cardigans are a lifesaver and comfort blanket – literally! At $15, I was able to pick them up in a few colors and won’t be devastated if they shrink or fall apart.
