When I started working on this week’s COTW, I knew I wanted to look at Cannes. I really, really love the Cannes Film Festival – it is always a nice collection of talent and elegance, awarding great acting, great films, and great professionals.
Then, I started looking through pictures. Cannes is a tropical film festival, filled with glitz, glamour, yachts, and palm trees. A few attendees didn’t quite understand the atmosphere, and showed up in Oscar-worthy gowns. After about 15 pages of photos, I came across Charlotte Le Bon at the “Inside Out” premiere.
My first thought: She is so obviously french. Her dress popped in the best way on that red carpet, and the outfit was perfect for the event. It wasn’t groundbreaking, earth-shattering, or shocking, but it was beautiful, soft, and elegant. It was breezy, ethereal, and lovely.
Charlotte looked so confident, despite the beautiful simplicity of the gown. She didn’t need to rely on rhinestones, cut-outs, or over-the-top jewels/cleavage/trains to pick a winning gown. I scrolled through some of her other looks from Cannes and they all have that wonderful simple-yet-chic-totally-French-ness to them.
The best part? She isn’t even french! She’s CANADIAN! And yet she still has that je ne se quoits! How chic is that?!
