While many movies have memorable quotes, it’s rare that a movie has a quote which not only is memorable at the time the movie is made but that stands the true test of time. It’s why this quote from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is 29 years old and yet perhaps never more true.
I know that I have trouble sometimes stopping and taking a break from whatever I’m doing to appreciate the small things. And, even worse, those small things somehow always turn out to be the things that life – real life- are made up of. We only get a few short years to live on this earth, and you never know when those could be taken away from you. I recently spent a weekend morning at a nail salon getting my nails done and was shocked that everyone getting a pedicure sat themselves down on their chairs and immediately drew out their phones, immediately texting, tweeting and recounting I don’t know what – the exciting goings on of the local nail salon? While I am far far far from being perfect in this regard (ask my husband, who often tells me to put away the phone or mocks the fact that our three year old can find and launch the YouTube app to the videos of his choice) I am trying to stop spending my whole life on an electronic device and get to the fun of living. Harder said than done (especially for a blogger!) but even if it’s only for designated periods of time or during certain activities, it’s important to stop and look at life speeding by around you. Living a luxurious life includes the word living – something you can’t do when you’re attached to a handheld device.
It’s why today we want to share some of that time to pause with you – we’re giving away one of famous speaker Cat Greenleaf’s exclusive Look Up bracelets, which are a reminder to stop and look up at life. There are easy to follow instructions on the bracelet if you’re not sure what we mean.
- Affix LOOK UP bracelet to your wrist of choice
- Refer to it often as a reminder to power down, LOOK UP, and take it all in
- Seriously… just LOOK UP. You will be amazed
We’re opening this contest to all of our readers, around the world, so enter away – and take some time today to unplug and look up.
