It will probably not come as a shock to many of you that I may have a small problem with beauty supply hoarding. When I moved into my house about 6 years ago my husband and I were overwhelmed by the amount of space and we had many conversations about how we would never be possibly able to fill up all of said space – especially me with all my beauty products when I took over a small vanity in the master bedroom which had ample room to house all of what I thought at the time was an exhaustive amount of products. The little desk was cleaned and organized… But fast forward 6 years? And it looked like this.
Yikes, right? My hair dryer and straightener were strewn about with makeup, hair products and half hearted organization attempts such as a bird jewelry holder that I despise but bought since I couldn’t find anything else, three glass apothecary jars that were full of random pieces of hair ties and little clear organization trays that were simply overflowing. How on earth would I be able to wake up in the morning and get dressed in this environment and not feel stressed? It was most certainly not la vie en luxe. Armed with my VISA card, I made a trip to the shops and came home with a take-no-prisoners attitude and went to work on my little vanity desk.
The result? I now have a clean, refined and luxurious spot to get ready in the morning. I bought a lucite jewelry box to keep some of my jewelry handy and added in a splash of color from a blue and white ceramic box to hold some of my watch collection. I, of course, threw in a Diptyque mini candle and some small white flowers to make the area somewhere that I would want to be (added bonus that it makes you want to keep things clean!) Here is a close up on some of the details:
And where did those big bulky hair tools go? With the help of a home drill, I now have special hooks under the desk to hold them and their cords (and avoid burning things!) For those curious minds, my blow dryer is an older model T3 (similar here) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new ghd 2″ straighetner just purchased from Sephora.
