The first weekend of the new year, the Englishman and I escaped to the cabin in the country for a bit of quiet. On Saturday, we visited some of his kin for a leisurely brunch. I was placed in charge of scrambled eggs, as I am an internationally recognized Eggspert.
An egg-cellent example of my work
You may have opened this link and thought it was a recipe. Actually, it is a reminder. My new year started with a fresh reminder on “la vie en luxe” – what it means, how I can achieve it, and how easy it is. When the scrambled eggs were ready, one of our breakfast guests presented a jar of caviar. She said it was left over from New Year’s Eve, but why not add it to our eggs? The natural response was, “Why not?” And so we enjoyed turkey bacon, tomato salad, fresh fruit, and scrambled eggs with caviar.
Why not add caviar to scrambled eggs? Or white truffle oil? A jar of inexpensive caviar will run you about $20 and can last a few Saturday brunches. I had never even considered it, but why not? It felt extra luxurious, refined, and I enjoyed the eggs much more than usual.
I started to wonder if there were ways to add luxury to every day in ways I had not considered before. Once I realized I could enjoy caviar on scrambled eggs, I knew there were loads of untapped pleasures available to me. Now I just have to figure them out!
