One of my favourite quotes is “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer“. Travelling gives you a new perspective on life, a new way of looking at people and a self-confidence in yourself and your ability to navigate foreign situations that it is without a question one of the most rewarding experiences in life. It’s such a true statement about being richer in experience – although I have to admit that in my experience I come home much poorer, but with suitcases full of foreign delights. While Christine and I are definitely not the most experienced world travellers – yet- but we have done our fair share of travelling; having been to Asia, Europe, North Africa, the Caribbean and all over our home turf of North America. Considering one of us grew up in luxury hotels and the other travels to them regularly for work, we like to think that we are at least on the right path .
And one of our favourite things about travelling is getting a perspective of someone who has been there for recommendations on what to do, what to try and how to spend your time in the destination – especially if you are only there for a short period of time. It’s why we launched our “48 Hours in” series a few months ago to give you a view of how we’d spend our time in various destinations. So far, we have covered Paris, Bruges and New York in the Fall – but have Hong Kong and London planned for the extremely near future.
We have launched a new feature on the Refined Side today called “Refined Travel Guides“. It’s an interactive map of where we’ve been and the associated blog posts for each of the cities. Check it out, and be sure to also check out our favourite travel articles.
