One of my favourite things to do is decorate for Christmas. I love bringing out the bins full of red, green and gold decorations and put them up. I’ve always lived with a mini-Scrooge (first dad, now husband) that have refused to put up decorations until the 1st of December, but this year I got a special exception to be allowed to do it early as the first day of December fell on a working Monday. I also try and bring in one new thing to the decorating scheme every year – and this year I decided I would try and find an easy to do, DIY version of one of my holiday favourites, snow globes. And if I did it a few weeks in advance and hid them until the big decoration day? He’d never know!
After exploring Pinterest, I decided on a quick project that required only things I had laying around the house – and some cheap bottle brush Christmas tree decorations readily available this time of year at any dollar store… Or if you’re feeling extra Martha-like today, you can make your own. You’ll need some glue, some salt (I found course to be best), scissors, some corks and some bottle brushes.
Next, I cut the corks so the trees could rest on them and not be on the bottom of the container so the
salt snow could have more effect. I glued the trees to the corks and then let it snow salt. Easiest DIY I’ve ever done.
