I’m a sucker for a book about fashion; especially the ones with cute illustrations that can be used as some form of reference material. Couple this recipe with a freaking fabulous author (friend of Refined Side, Stephanie Simons) and, well, magic happens.
Chic-tionary, The Little Book of Fashion Faux-Cabulary is an adorable book which will be available in November from Stephanie Simons – and we were lucky enough to review an advance copy! If you are thinking that Stephanie’s name sounds familiar, you are right… We did cover her last book All’s Fair In Love And Wardrobe on the blog and many of you told us you loved it as much as we did. Chic-tionary though isn’t all about clothes. As Stephanie points out, every 3.5 seconds a new fashion word is born (coatigans, flatforms, jeggings, wooties, furkenstocks) that leaves an indelible glitter stain on the English language.
Chic-tionary, the little book of fashion faux-cabulary, contains a super-hilarious, super-exclusive collection of made-up words that stylish females can rely on when real words just won’t do. Do you try things on without bothering to hang them back up (fit it then quit it)? Have you ever missed a spot while depilitating (bad nair day)? Or been saved by a Sephora when a last-minute invitation strikes and don’t have your makeup bag (serendipretty)?
Some of my favourite little gems are:
So stop what you’re doing and get on the list for Chic-tionary! Added bonus, it would be the perfect Christmas gift for any fashion-minded friends so buy two and knock an item off your to-do list and feel proud that you can say you started your Christmas shopping in October.
You can pre-order your copy of the book here (out everywhere November 11, 2014):
