With summer comes weekend getaways, one of my favorite things about the season. You leave work early on Friday, drive off into greener pastures, and come home Sunday feeling relaxed and revived.
All the rest and relaxation these minibreaks bring can be ruined by the stress leading up to them. Who among us has not stayed up to the wee hours before a trip, doing laundry, packing outfits, and praying that the suitcase will zip? It is practically a rite of female passage.
When a very girly weekend getaway arrived on my calendar, the first thought in my head was “what am I going to wear?” It was a packed weekend with all sorts of different occasions. I didn’t want to lug my suitcase around, so I gave myself a challenge – pack for a weekend in a large Longchamp Le Pliage tote.
It was tough, but with a little mixing-and-matching, it worked out perfectly.
As you can see, I packed very light. Here are the outfits I chose based on my schedule:
- Work day/travel day – white lace blouse, skinny jeans, black wedges.
- Formal brunch – Day dress, lightweight jacket, wedges
- Museum tour – Day dress, flats
- Dinner – Day dress, lightweight jacket, flats
- Upscale pool party – Day dress, wedges
- Travel – Jeans, white lace blouse, flats
Of course, I packed pajamas, lingerie, and my beauty supplies. When all was said, done, and packed, it was well before the wee hours, I didn’t have to sit on anything, and the bag zipped perfectly.
