I have a secret confession to make… I adore peeking into other people’s lives. It’s part of the reason I love Instagram and even a larger part of why I’m not so secretly obsessed with a new site called Quarterly. In short, Quarterly lets you purchase a box full of unknown-to-you items from a curator of your choice and once every three months (aka quarterly) you get a box from that curator full of things they love and are excited about right now. It’s like a little window into their super fabulous lives.
I signed up for Quarterly’s Nina Garcia box several months ago and have never looked back. The boxes are literally like opening presents from your coolest friend. Imagine how excited I was when I found out that our favourite travel blogger, Hitha Palepu, had a box of her own coming out. Yup, I signed up. Yesterday, the very first box arrived.
Since she’s a travel blogger, her boxes are centred around that. Since I travel frequently – even if sometimes just for the weekend – it definitely appealed to me! This box included her tips for travel around shoes. It features a shoe packing tips sheet from Hitha (very helpful for those of us who travel with, oh, 14 pairs for 3 day trips), a coupon for 20% off at Sole Society (maybe for these sandals?) as well as two larger items:
Spongellé Pedi-Buffer (Retail price $16.99)
Formulated just for your feet with a textured scrubby side that whisks away fry skin and calluses while cleansing. Our Pedi Buffers have done wonders for many people whose feet were in need of some tender loving care.Mandarin Mint Fragrance: A Fresh Clean Feeling and Feet Like a Baby, is what you will WALK away with. This Product will last you at least 30 uses.
The smell is very refreshing, and I can absolutely see the benefit in taking this little gem when travelling – especially in summer. It will help wipe off all the dirt and grime and soothe feet tired from all the walking that people inevitably do on their trips. I’ll be breaking this one out sooner than my next trip though as we’re in sandal weather and there is nothing worse than dirty callused feet. Ew!
Hudson & Bleecker Labyrinth Gold Shoe Bag (Retail Value $64)
The graphic print Labyrinth Gold Shoe Bag is the epitome of fashion and function. Designed to fit snugly inside travel luggage or a carry on, the sophisticated gold pattern stands alone just fine too. If you’d rather show off this contemporary accessory than pack it away in travel bags, use it as an oversized carrier for your cosmetics or hair accessories. It can comfortably accommodate a hair-dryer, flat-iron, hair brushes, curling irons and of course all of your makeup!
I was a little surprised to see how large this bag is – I could fit 2 or 3 pairs of shoes in! But proving with Hitha is a renowned travel blogger, she states firmly that she adheres to a 3 pair rule for all trips (and the style guide shares which ones) and they should all fit in the shoe bag… And if you can fit 4 or 5 pairs into the shoe bag? Then you’re OK. Great rule and logic! It’s a well made sturdy bag and my Jimmy Choos were delighted to make its acquaintance. No more travelling in dust bags, boys!
All in all, I am very happy with all the products I got… And while I’m used to getting more things in a box (Nina’s boxes are jam packed, but also double the price) it is nice to get two things I’ll actually use and love. If you love getting packages in the mail, I can do no more than highly recommend Quarterly and their great boxes!
