A few months back, I mentioned my love of the beach and heard that many of you share the same passions. There are all kinds of people who love the beach, sailing, the ocean, the water and the nautical aesthetic. There are loads of lists out there with cute bracelets, necklaces with pendants and clothes with anchors on them but we really wanted to take it a step further for this list.
Here are our top nautical inspired gifts:
You can find this 4GB USB Flash Drive Message In a Bottle at Urban Outfitters for $28 but it would be a fairly easy (and inexpensive) DIY project for your beach gift-lister. You can pick your own cute glass bottle with a cork and then install a USB on the end, and if you wanted you could also add some personalized trinkets such as a letter or some sand/shells on the bottom of the bottle if you wanted to jazz it up.
Quite the collectible, this sterling silver piggybank from Tiffany may not be the most practical of gifts, but some of the best ones aren’t! The Tiffany Sailboat bank comes in at $2,700 but there are many other replicas of this idea out there. Perhaps you could add a cute card about “Helping you save up for the boat” or something equally inspiring to get their Captain dreams going.
I love how this Driade Kosmo candlestick holder has both the look of a coral reef but is classy enough to hang around with the modern interiors favoured by so many. I can see this being a great pop of color in any room and would love to receive it myself even though I have absolutely zero red items in my house. Driade Kosmo candlestick holder is 201 € from Connox.
There is nothing that I can think of that would be more petrifying to run into in the ocean than an octopus (OK, that’s a lie, I can now think of sharks, stingrays, jellyfish… It’s a scary place… ) But the look of this octopus sitting perched over the edge of a bookcase makes me smile. It’s a touch of whimsy that really works for me. A subtle way to add nautical decor into a home. Item was featured on Cupcakes & Cashmere back in 2012 and was available from D.L.Rhein in Los Angeles, but I’m sure it woulc be easy to track something like this down at a home décor store near you.
Speaking of octopuses, how about this tentacled cake stand? Would have to be for someone who enjoyed baking enough that they’d be able to use it (I have several cake stands that get used so rarely it’s depressing) but a cute nod again to the sea with the Tentacled Server Cake Stand from BHLDN for $248
I have been a fan of DogEared necklaces for years, they’re adorable and have such a cute messages behind them. Take this necklace for example, the message is about anchors and friendship: “true friends give us something to hold onto, and help us stay afloat, wear your necklace as a reminder that you are my anchor“. Isn’t that a message you want someone you love to think of when they wear your piece? They’re also great for stackable wearing. Dogeared Friendship Anchor necklace is $48 in sterling silver, or you can also get it in gold for $58.
