Happy Halloween! Yes… It crept up on all of us. Still missing a costume? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with easy last minute Halloween costumes!
If you’re like me, Halloween is a fun holiday – with the exception being around the requisite costumes. Costume manufacturers seem to have an uncanny ability to sexualize costumes that aren’t even meant to be attractive… Sexy witch, sexy Robin, sexy pirate. But what about those of us that want to participate in the holiday but have, oh say real jobs or modesty, that preclude us from wearing those?
Well, my friends, search no longer. Having scoured the internet, picked the brains of creative friends and even dug into my own repertoire, I’ve come up with some easy, last-minute yet refined Halloween costumes that don’t require your chest to hang out, 6″ heels or your dignity to be flushed down the toilet. Here are some of those options:
Glamorous Member of Diamond Heist Crew
Ok, so robbery isn’t exactly refined, but given the popularity of action movies, I’m not the only one who still manages to see the glamourous life portrayed in the life of a thief. And what could be more refined than diamonds? It’s an easy thing to dress up as given you likely have all the required pieces in your closet already with the exception of a mask, which is easily made. Bonus points on creativity are surely to be won at Costume Contests as well.
Contestant on the Hunger Games
Grab a pair of skinny khakis and leather jacket from your closet, and throw on your most daring black boots (bonus points for biker boots with studs). Make your own Mockingjay pin and do your hair in a side braid. You can even DIY a bow and arrow set for true authenticity.
Bag of Jelly Bellies
Not the most glamorous of costumes, but also the easiest. Grab your jeans and a t-shirt and hit the garage to find a large, clear garbage bag. Blow up as many small sized balloons as you can find, step into the garbage bag and drop in your “jelly beans”. Pop on a “Jelly Belly” logo on the front. Voila!
If these options don’t cut it for you, I have to admit that I was tempted into creating MTV’s take on a Sharknado costume (inspired by SyFy’s now cult classic 2013 hit)
