If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I am often found asking my friends if I can move to England/Canada/Switzerland to escape our great country. And yet, the more I learn the more I love being American. I recently learned that we are a great nation, full of hope and optimism and beauty. There are some ugly moments, ugly people, ugly monuments, but there is so much more beauty than we could ever imagine. People dream their whole life and never see what we see. So today, I’d like to raise a toast to America – and in particular, us American Girls. We are the “rocket’s red glare” of this country, sparkling through life with a hope that no other country possesses.
“It is easy to see that, even in the freedom of early youth, an American girl never quite loses control of herself; she enjoys all permitted pleasures without losing her head about any of them, and her reason never lets the reins go, though it may oft” – Alexis de Tocqueville
“The average American girl possesses the valuable qualities of naturalness, honesty, and inoffensive straightforwardness; she is nearly barren of troublesome conventions and artificialities; consequently, her presence and her ways are unembarrassing,” – Mark Twain
“I like American women. They do things sexually Russian girls never dream of doing – like showering.” – Yakov Smirnoff
